Reagan Humor

This is a little long but I really got a kick out of it. I think it is essentially non political. Ronald Reagan was a gifted person on the podium.

Can't pass this date by completely. Even have an interesting article about astrologers and scientist opinions about it.

High Noon

They don't make movies like they used to.

I still remember how intense this movie was.

Rainbow Ahead

I was walking out to go home at about 8 oclock tonight.

We had our first real rain in quite a while today and there was a break in the clouds to the west so there was a very colorful sunset.

What really caught my attention though was just about straight to the south there was the end of a rainbow in all its glory. Only about a third of it was there and it did fade after about another 10 minutes but I had a real urge to go and check if there really was a pot of gold. It really would have come in handy.

It has been a number of years since I have last seen one but I am always amazed at the sight. This is really one of the good things in life.

Festival of the Arts

This is the weekend (Aug 25-26) for the annual Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts.

It is quite an event in Buffalo NY. The weather is really helping.

The video is for last year's (2011) festival.

Some Ads

Sometimes a non-issue becomes the center of an ad campaign. This one about something that does not strike me as important at all is a perfect example.

It just seems like there are better things to emphasize rather that something insignificant like tags.

Nice Summer Weather

Summer does have its good weather and today is an example of it.

It is not too hot and the sun is not too blinding. Just nice and comfortable.

Latest Update on Higgs Boson Research

This is from Fermilab. Maybe July 4 there will be some sort of report one way or other.
The whole thing could be considered as "discovered" or completely shot down. Isn't physics interesting?

DDay June 6, 1944

This is the official Army site on the invasion of Europe at Normandy June 6, 1944.

My arithmetic says 68 years ago so anyone involved is in their upper 80s or 90s.

The huge size and complexity is awe-inspiring even to this day.

Arthritis Notes

AccuWeather has an arthritis index and for today it is 5 or at risk.

The weather is crummy, to put it mildly. It is cool out, damp and drizzly, and just a good day to stay in.

A friend of mine has arthritis and to show that the numbers mean something she is rotating ice packs on the worst areas. The index is accurate and the ice does heap.

The numbers go down Monday and the rest of the week so there is hopefully relief on the way.

It is interesting that a weather forecast can predict things like this. I have found it to be surprisingly accurate in the past as well. It can be a source of hope or "light at the end of the tunnel" at times.

Crickets and Stuff

Guess what I have in the house? I kept hearing a sound and got scared my refrigerator may be going bad. With a hearing aid your sense of direction for sounds is just about nil.

I did finally track the sound to the dining room. It must be a cricket! What do I do? Flood the area with bug spray? The poor thing isn't hurting anything. Why not look it up on Google and do a little reading?

Nothing at all there except cell phones. At least on the first page which is about all I look at. Oh yes. There is also a lot on that English game. Nothing I could find on the bug though.

What do I search for to find a bug in the middle of cell phones and games? Jiminy Cricket. Look him up and find cross references to real bugs. Sounds good but Pinocchio was one of my favorite Disney movies when I was very young and of course I got sidetracked by YouTube. Never did find a bug article but really thought this was cute - It has the Blue Fairy, Jiminy and Pinocchio:

By the way. I still have the bug calling for company I guess. Haven't decided what to do yet. Maybe he will just move on on his own.

Yoga and Weight Loss

This is quite a sales pitch for something called DDP Yoga. I did not want to lose it.

In The Garden

This is one of the nicest times of the year for me. I love it when everything starts growing.

This song is a long time favorite too. This version is sung by Jim Reeves and features beautiful pictures from Vancouver BC. There are a number of other good versions by others including Alan Jackson and yes, Elvis. I do like this one because of the flower gardens.

It Is Still Winter!

I was out and about today without a coat.
The sun was shining and the temperature was in the 70s (21C).
People are walking all over with summer clothes on.

There are 2 St. Patrick's Day parades that draw big crowds. Today's in South Buffalo had huge crowds. Tomorrow the parade in downtown should be tremendous. People in other years would turn out in snowy cold weather. Not this year. And the crowds are showing it.

I could get to like this weather.

Did It Again

I am getting pretty good at this

I was upstairs when I noticed an unusual odor. What could it be?

I looked around where I was and finally went downstairs. The aroma of cooking plastic.

I hate it when I put a pot of water on the stove and completely forget it. This pot has survived this treatment several times now and for some unknown reason still does not leak. It is hard to believe it was once shiny and new but that was back in the good old days.

I wonder if I could be poisoning myself reusing this pot after the adventures it has been through? I guess I am just too frugal (cheap) to look at another.

Good Question

A little boy was standing in the church looking at plaques with names on them.

The priest came along and asked him what he was looking at.

The boy said he was wondering who all these names were.

The priest said that they were all people who had died in the service.

The boy was concerned and asked whether it was the 10:30 or noon service.
